Our debut release launched in May 2017 during Sydney Fashion Week. Release 1 was inspired by pioneering women, in particular Eileen Gray who was an architect, furniture designer and pioneer of the Modernest Movement. Nicholas Nixon's The Brown Sisters series was also an inspiration. The photo portrait series spans 40 years of the sister's lives and besides being beautiful works, the images lend themselves to refections on how the women's personal style evolves, along with the life experience reflected in their faces. It carried with it ideas of our long term relationships with clothes and bought us back to exploring ideas of capsule wardrobes and the uniforms of daily life, in particular menswear elements such as the white shirt, tailored trouser and workwear garments like the Boiler suit. Photographed by Gen Kay, model Coco Piesse.
